Lower back pain and sciatica books

I have listed the books I have with the ones I personally like best at the top of the list.

Back Pain: How to Relieve Low Back Pain and Sciatica

by Loren Fishman and Carol Ardman.

This is an excellent book with great diagrams and in depth descriptions. It also has 24 tips to ease your aching back. I used this more like a medical reference book. Don't get me wrong, it is well written in easy to understand English.

Breathworks for your back

by Nancy Swayzee

This is another excellent book with loads of exercises to strengthen your tummy muscles and your transverse abdominal muscles. It's worth reading to see if there is an exercise particularly suitable for you.

ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE

by Mike Russell

Get your posture right and everything else will fall into place. That's the theory at least. A good well illustrated book on Alexander Technique Principles is a must.

HEALING BACK PAIN NATURALLY

by Art Brownstein

An excellent book written by an MD who suffered from back pain for 20 years. The book describes what worked for him. It is worth the price alone if only to follow the stretching program.

THE SCIATICA RELIEF HANDBOOK

by Chet Cunningham

If it's Sciatica you are suffering from then this book compliments Healing Back pain Naturally and Back Pain: How to Relieve Low Back Pain and Sciatica. It's written in real easy to follow layman speak.

STRETCHING FOR FITNESS HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE

by Dr Christopher A Oswald & Dr Stanley N Basco

This book by two Canadian authors is probably one of the most complete books on stretching you will find. What I liked about it was that it also told you what stretches not to do! It also covers stretching for all age groups.

Dr Ali's ULTIMATE BACK BOOK

by Dr Mosaraf Ali

I have mixed feelings about this book while it contains some useful information I couldn't help feeling he was plugging his work and clinic subliminally.

Dr Ali & Jiwan Brar Theraputic YOGA

by Dr Mosaraf Ali & Jiwan Brar

This is more a catch all cure for all ailments, through the powers of yoga, with useful information on stretches for people with bad backs.

HEALING BACK PAIN - The mind body connection

By John E Sarno MD.

This book suggests back pain is all in the mind and that having a positive mental attitude along with auto suggestion can cure all back pain.

I also have a book on Pilates, Massage for pain relief, Stretches for the Supple body, and Yoga. The books are all a bit old or not listed on Amazon. I found with most books, no matter how poor they might be there is always some gem. A visit to your local library is always worthwhile.
